Welcome to this website. The title ‘Modelling Minds’ refers here primarily to the kind of modelling that human minds do. Only to a lesser extent (if at all) will it refer to our efforts to model our own minds.
Our common sense and intuition are themselves modelling faculties but so are mathematics, philosophy, the use of languages, art, music and a host of disciplines and practices. Over-arching such specific features of our human nature and culture is the remarkable capacity to reflect, imaginatively, on ever wider areas of our experience.
Everyday experience and behaviour is in a constant symbiotic relationship with the sense we make of our environment and ourselves. Such ‘sense making’ is itself a kind of modelling: both personal and interpersonal. We plan to explore some of these themes on this website and welcome your suggestions.
